Inetimi Alfred Odon professionally known as Timaya, was born on 15 August 1988 in Port Harcourt, River State, Nigeria. He is a Nigerian singer and songwriter, who hail from Odi, Bayelsa State, Nigeria. He became visible and internationally recognised in the music platform through his official debut single titled "Plantain Boy".

Timaya started his musical career as a backup vocalist for Eedris Abdulkreem's group, when he moved to Lagos State. ASfter spending years under the Eedris group, he left and met a producer in Mafoluku, Oshodi called Obaksolo, who helped and assisted him in producing his first official single named "Dem Mama". The song "Dem Mama" was a typical illustration of the destruction that happened vivdly in Odi, a river side community in the Niger Delta, where u see soldiers hopping down the Odi community, killing peoples and burning their houses.

Timaya was seen on the song "Kokorokoro" bvy the Nigerian female gospel artiste Keffi, which was a wonderful collaboration that earned him an award in the Headies Music Award, before he was featured by an artiste from the Five Star Music, Kcee in a hit track titled "Erima"
